RSD 10 fosters inquisitive learners, innovative leaders and responsible citizens for the 21st century.
Cheri Burke, Director of Student LearningIt is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to Regional School District #10. Burlington and Harwinton are exceptional communities which proudly support our outstanding schools, talented teachers, and dedicated administrators. The two communities work in concert to inspire and support all students in RSD10 to realize their full potential. I joined RSD10 in December of 2014 as the Director of Student Learning. In this role, I have the joy of working side by side our Superintendent of Schools, Alan Beitman, to lead our district to greatness. My primary responsibilities are in the areas of curriculum and instruction, professional learning, assessment and technology for education.
Prior to starting my work with RSD10, I was a building principal at Seymour Elementary School in East Granby, Connecticut. This was a fabulous place to learn and grow as an administrator because I also call East Granby home. I spend my time on the baseball field or the hockey rink with my four children and husband, Peter. On the rare Saturday we are not attending sports events I like to read a great book, go for a run or play catch with our Golden Retriever, Crosby. Prior to being an administrator, I worked as an elementary and middle school teacher, literacy coach, International Baccalaureate Coordinator, and an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph University in West Hartford. My goal is to create an innovative and engaging school environment for every child and educator. By embracing the growth mindset and teaching a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that is student centered our students will flourish and be well prepared for college and career. |
